Galiano Wine Galiano Wine - Good thoughts, good deeds, great wine.
The Galiano Family

Good thoughts, good deeds, great wine.

A story rooted in vines

from our family to yours

Galiano began in the basement of our Long Island home, where wine was something we made by hand and shared with family and friends. It started simply, with curiosity and a willingness to learn, but it didn’t take long to realize that what we were building went beyond the process itself. The most meaningful part was always what happened around the table. A bottle opened, time set aside, and the kind of moments that stay with you long after.

That perspective shaped everything that followed. As the opportunity to grow presented itself, we chose to take that same approach and apply it at a higher level, bringing our work to California and partnering with vineyards in Napa Valley and Lodi. With access to exceptional fruit and a deeper understanding of the craft, we were able to refine what we had started, without losing what made it special in the first place.

Our focus remains on thoughtful production and balance. Each wine is developed with intention, allowing the fruit to lead while maintaining structure and consistency from vintage to vintage. The goal is not to overcomplicate, but to create wines that feel complete, that pair naturally with food, and that hold their place at the table.

What began in a basement still defines us. A belief that great wine is not about scale or excess, but about care, restraint, and the experience it creates. Every bottle is made with that in mind.

Our hope is that when you open a bottle of Galiano, it becomes part of something worth remembering.

Meet Our Winemaker

Paul Scotto

Paul grew up in the Livermore Valley, “hanging out at my grandfather’s winery”, where he learned that his family’s winemaking history dated back to 1883 in Ischia, Italy. His interest in becoming a 5th generation winemaker resulted and led him to graduate from the Enology program at UC Davis.

After graduation he wanted experience outside of the family business, so he spent seven years selling construction and vineyard equipment, making wine and working in green waste. He joined his siblings in 2009 as the Director of Winemaking for all of their wineries and he developed a passion for creating small lots of premium wine that expressed the vineyard and the varietals. Paul’s enviable portfolio includes numerous awards and top ratings for releases from the family’s Lodi, Napa Valley and Amador wineries and includes both varietals and finely balanced blends.

Paul's love of blending to enhance flavors, aromas and body is the foundation for his work at Galiano. Paul describes himself as a “Blendologist” and often says that “Blending is challenging but the results are the reward.”

Paul’s energy and commitment drive his pursuit of excellence with every vintage and provides a guiding force for the entire Galiano portfolio.

When not working feverishly in the winery and vineyards or following the Golden State Warriors, Paul cherishes his time with his wife Whitney and enjoys a wide range of sports and family outings with their three energetic sons Dante, Luca and Carlo.
